This town was founded in fairly ancient times as it is proven by the presence of a menhir-statue, U nativu, discovered in 1964 in the nearby village of barbaggio. This menhir has been placed in the amphitheatre of Patrimonio where every summer the night Festival of corsican Guitar takes place. During ancient times, Patrimonio wines were already appreciated. Nowadays Patrimonio has kept its reputation and is still famous for its times (AOC).
The Patrimonio wines are widely known outside the island. Patrimonio's region has been the first in the isalnd to obtain the distinction since 1968.
Besides that, the muscat wine produced in Patrimonio is the only one to bear the AOC distinctive award in the Cap Corse.

Perced like a vulture's nest, this medieval village has gathered its houses at the foot of ste Lucie's church with a paolin tower turned to the sea at a height of 167 metres. From the top of the cliff a huge beach with blue-grey pebbles can be contemplated.
